  • Son of former #1 overall MLB Draft pick (1976) and All-Star pitcher (1982) Floyd Bannister.
  • 1999 AZ 4A State Champion at Chaparral High School.
  • Pitched in the 2000 & 2001 College World Series alongside #2 overall draft pick and current Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior at the University of Southern California.
  • Drafted in the 7th round of the 2003 MLB Draft by the New York Mets.
  • Selected as a Minor League All-Star in 2003, 2004, & 2005.
  • Voted New York Mets Minor League Pitcher of the Year in 2005.
  • Selected to represent Team USA in the 2005 World Cup in the Netherlands.
  • His jersey number was retired in 2005 by the Brooklyn Cyclones in Coney Island, NY.
  • Debuted for the Mets in 2006 alongside Hall of Fame pitchers Tom Glavine and Pedro Martinez.
